Imagine never having to lug around a heavy ebike charger again for mid-journey top-ups. That’s the promise of the Tiler system, a wireless charging solution designed to make charging your ebike as easy as parking and flicking out the kickstand. After the success of its initial pilot and the Tiler Uno, the company is now introducing the Tiler Compact, which promises to bring the same trusted functionality in a more streamlined and portable design.

Tiler Compact: A Smarter Way to Charge Your Ebike

The concept behind the Tiler system is simple but innovative: instead of worrying about plugging in a bulky charger, riders can simply park their ebike near a Tiler Compact charging pad, flip out the kickstand, and let the system wirelessly charge the battery. This is a game-changer for ebike enthusiasts who are tired of carrying heavy chargers around for those occasional mid-ride power boosts.

The Tiler Compact system works by connecting a specialized kickstand to the ebike’s charging circuit via an adapter. When the rider parks at a Tiler Compact charging station, the kickstand interacts with a 150-watt wireless pad, which begins to charge the ebike’s battery. Tiler’s tests suggest that a typical 36-V/500-Wh battery can be fully charged in about 3.5 hours using the system.

How Does It Work?

The Tiler Compact system is made up of two key components: the charging pad and the kickstand. The charging pad is a weatherproof 260 x 245 x 15 mm (10.2 x 9.6 x 0.59 inches) unit, which can be plugged into a standard wall outlet or installed into the floor for a cleaner, more stable setup. When the rider needs to top up their battery, they simply park their bike, deploy the kickstand, and place it on the charging pad.

What makes the system even more appealing is its scalability. A single 230-volt/16-amp domestic wall outlet can support up to 24 charging pads, making it an excellent choice for commercial fleet installations or for high-traffic areas like bike-sharing stations. Tiler also offers a version of the system compatible with cargo bikes, and plans are in place to develop solutions for e-mopeds and electric scooters as well.

Affordable and Convenient Charging

The Tiler Compact is designed to be an affordable alternative to traditional charging systems, especially for ebike fleets or riders who want an easy way to charge without carrying a bulky charger. At €250 (~US$290) before taxes, it is significantly more accessible than its predecessor, the Tiler Uno, which carried a premium price tag. The Tiler Compact is now available for pre-order, with shipping expected to begin in mid-2026, although it’s unclear whether the system will be available internationally at launch.

The Appeal for Regular Ebike Riders

For regular ebike riders, the Tiler Compact offers a practical and convenient solution to charging woes. As someone who often carries a charger for emergencies, the idea of wirelessly charging on the go sounds incredibly appealing. No more fumbling with chargers or worrying about running out of battery mid-journey. Instead, just park, place the kickstand, and enjoy the convenience of wireless charging.

However, one consideration is the size of the Tiler kickstand. While it’s a practical solution for larger bikes or fleet installations, it may not be the best fit for more compact or folding commuter bikes, where a sleeker aesthetic is often a priority. The bulky design of the kickstand could potentially clash with the slim and portable look of these types of ebikes, making it less desirable for some riders.

The Tiler Compact system is an exciting step forward in the world of ebike charging. By eliminating the need to carry heavy chargers and providing a simple, efficient way to top up your battery mid-ride, it’s a solution that’s sure to appeal to many ebike enthusiasts. With a reasonable price point and the convenience of wireless charging, the Tiler Compact has the potential to be a game-changer in the way we charge our ebikes—whether on the go or parked at a charging station.
